Macon Community Child Development Center (CCDC) — maconccdc.org

Last Updated: June 16, 2026

Our Commitment

The Macon Community Child Development Center (CCDC) is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We are working to ensure that maconccdc.org meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the accessibility standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and other applicable regulations.

Conformance Status

A WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility audit of maconccdc.org was completed on June 16, 2026, by 54 Design Group, LLC. The audit included both automated scanning (using Screaming Frog, Axe DevTools Pro, PopeTech, WAVE, and Google Lighthouse) and a manual review phase. No violations were identified during automated scanning. The manual review identified one issue that is currently being remediated:

  • A promotional graphic on the Support page contains substantive donation and tax credit information — including a phone number and specific financial details — that is not available in readable text elsewhere on the page. This creates a barrier for screen reader users who cannot access the text inside an image.

  • A color contrast error in the page heading, with white text on a graphic background, identified in WAVE Aim was determined by manual review to be a non-issue. This was also noted as a non-issue when scanned using both Google Lighthouse and Axe DevTools.

We have committed to remediating both issues by July 16, 2026. Upon completion, this Accessibility Statement will be updated to reflect the current conformance status.

With the exception of these two identified items, maconccdc.org is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Known Limitations

The website is built on Squarespace 7.0 (Brine template), a platform that Squarespace is no longer actively maintaining. Squarespace 7.0 does not natively include a skip navigation link. This structural limitation is addressed through custom code injection, which is currently being implemented. All other platform constraints are handled through self-contained CSS and code fixes.

The Google Map on the Facility page does not have an accessible name; this is a known issue with the embedded Google Maps tool and cannot be remediated by the website owner or a local developer.

Ongoing Efforts

CCDC is committed to treating accessibility as an ongoing practice, not a one-time correction. Our current commitments include:

  • Remediate the two identified findings by July 16, 2026

  • Review the website for accessibility issues whenever significant content changes are made

  • Ensure that new images added to the website include meaningful alt text descriptions at the time of upload

  • Conduct periodic accessibility reviews on an annual basis, or whenever major platform or template changes are made

Technical Specifications

This website is built on Squarespace 7.0 using the Brine template. Accessibility was evaluated using the following tools and methods: Screaming Frog SEO Spider (site crawl), Axe DevTools Pro (automated page scanning), PopeTech (automated site scan), WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool), Google Lighthouse, and manual review, including keyboard navigation testing and visual content review. The WCAG 2.1 standard was used as the evaluation framework. WCAG 2.2 criteria were not applied in this review.

Formal Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division or submit one to the U.S. Access Board (access-board.gov). As a nonprofit that receives federal funding or serves the public, CCDC is committed to resolving accessibility concerns promptly and in good faith.

Standards Referenced

This report references WCAG 2.1 Success Criteria at Level A and Level AA. All findings are classified under WCAG 2.1 AA. WCAG 2.2 criteria and accessibility best practices that do not constitute WCAG 2.1 AA failures are excluded from this report.

Limitations of Automated Testing

Automated accessibility tools can reliably detect many categories of issues, but cannot identify all accessibility barriers. This audit supplemented automated scanning with manual review to identify issues — such as images containing substantive text, and missing keyboard navigation aids — that automated tools do not evaluate.

A Note on Accessibility as an Ongoing Process

Web accessibility is not a single destination — it is an ongoing commitment. Websites change continuously: new content is added, platforms update, and new assistive technologies emerge. The clean automated scan result for maconccdc.org reflects a well-structured website. The two manual findings documented here are the current remaining gaps. Addressing them will bring the site into substantial conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA.
